Copper shielding tape is commonly used in guitars equipped with single coil pickups to reduce electromagnetic interference and unwanted noise. By placing the tape in the cavities of the guitar, it creates a protective barrier that helps to block electronic noise that cause hum and buzzing, allowing for a clearer and more polished tone. This practice has been around for several decades, as guitarists have sought to improve their instruments' performance. Applying copper shielding tape is relatively simple and can be a DIY project for those who are comfortable with basic guitar maintenance. If you're experiencing unwanted noise from your single coil pickups, using this tape can be a worthwhile enhancement to your guitar's functionality, making it a recommended modification for both amateur and professional musicians alike. It's cheap and easy to do.

Installation tips:

Step 1: Remove the electronics to access to the body cavities

Step 2: Cut Copper Tape into 2" strips. These strips will be used to line the sides of the cavity. Line the sides first.

Step 3: Cut larger pieces to cover the floor of the cavities. Overlap is key. The pieces on the floor should overlap onto the sides.

Step 4: Reinstall electronics and enjoy the silence.
